Happy Birthday MTV

On August 1, 2011 MTV turns 30. We want to know...
What is your favorite MTV moment?

Megan Neumeier
ZZ Top - She’s Got Legs  It was like a Cinderella story but in a shoe store, ha!

Beth Boyd
OH…. I was in college and we would watch MTV for hours.  What a great place to be when Michael Jackson’s Thriller came out!  The entire sorority gathered to watch the premiere.

Kim Harrelson
I remember being at a friends  house and her telling me (as we were listening to the Rolling Stones “Beast of Burden”) that “beast of burden” meant something really really really bad and never to say it around anyone especially a PARENT!

Tyler Whiteside
When MTV actually stood for MUSIC TV. Not worth watching anymore.

Courtney Blazer
Nsync & Brittany Spears
BYE BYE BYE lol
Brittany Spears in a pink shirt but I don’t remember what song it was

Susan Warren
Oops, what if I said, “I’ve never really watched MTV”  My mom wouldn’t let me watch it growing up and I’ve been too busy since then to care.

KB
My favorite memory is TRL…and when MTV actually showed videos, not all reality television!!!

Brooke Burnett
I  have to say that my all-time favorite video is Tom Petty’s “Don’t Come Around Here No More.” I was 6 when it was released and I thought it was the strangest and coolest thing I had ever seen.  26 years later I still feel that way.

Amber Forga
I loved dancing to “Hey Mickey” when I was a kid. My parents hated that song!

My Favorite Thing To Do In Little Rock...

I asked a few people in the office - What is your favorite thing to do in Little Rock? To be honest, I was shocked by the answers but completely agree that each would make a lovely day! Read their answers below and post your answer for a chance to win a $25 Cafe 201 gift card.

My favorite thing to do in Little Rock is to wake up early on Saturday morning and go to Boulevard Bread Company.  I get a Hazelnut Latte and one of there delicious pastries.  They are all good but my favorite is the flaky croissant with prosciutto and asiago cheese, yum!  Then I will go down town to the Farmers Market.  There is a large assortment of fresh local produce and well as home made arts and crafts.  I can’t think of a better way to spend my Saturday morning.

Little Rock has one of the best used book stores downtown. You can find great books on travel, music, art and history as well as vinyl records and vintage tapes. I can spend hours there and all proceeds help fund the Little Rock Public Library.

Forbes Top 5 Cleanest Cities in the U.S.

Forbes Top 5 Cleanest Cities in the U.S.
Monday, April 4, 2011 by Brad Crawford
On the cusp of Earth Day, April 22, we break out a quick-and-dirty list of the cleanest cities in the U.S. Planners often look for ways to green their own events, but what about siting meeting in a clean/healthy city to enhance attendees' experience?
Raleigh, N.C.
Forbes published its list of cleanest cities in March. As the Midwest Insider, I lamented that no Midwestern cities made the cut, but two of our most popular U.S. convention destinations did, so perhaps you've chosen healthy sites before without even thinking about it. The top 5 (best first):

McAllen, TX
Little Rock, AR
Raleigh, NC
Orlando, FL
Las Vegas, NV

Does a city's cleanliness factor into your choice of meeting site? See destination guides for Little Rock, Raleigh, Orlando, and Vegas on the Cvent Destination Guide.

Throw in Brad Pitt and you have yourself a deal

I can give up coffee as long as I can drink amphetamines

3. Pierce something on your face?
$40 in drinks

4. Give up your cell phone for a week?
You can pry it from my cold dead hands

5. Give a speech in your underwear?
How did you know about that?

Courtney Blazer

In the McCarthy Suite-daily per diem, plus a $250,000 salary…oh and that Range Rover sitting outside!

Only my nose and that’d take about $10,000

Well I went without one for 2 days….so for 5 more days I guess I could handle it for $300.00 just to buy the iphone 5.

I’m not sure which is worse-the public speaking or the underwear part….but I’d prefer about a million for this one.
